Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi & Yai Restaurants

Where and What to Eat in Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi & Yai

Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi & Yai Restaurants and Dining

Restaurants on the two beaches tend towards simple, bamboo-and-thatch genre serving grilled seafood or western food with a few serving both. There are even Issan (northeastern Thailand) eateries with barbecued chicken and glutinous rice so, with a bit of looking around, you’re sure to find the right place. Dining on the beach itself is also possible and extremely enjoyable.

Time passes slowly in this part of the world and you’ll sometimes find that this is reflected in the restaurant service, where a noticeably tardy meal is accompanied by a cheery and disarming smile. “Sit back and relax” announces a handwritten sign in one local restaurant and this encapsulates life at Thong Nai Pan Yai and Noi Beaches.

Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi Restaurants

The Beach Club

The Beach Club

Part of the Baan Panburi Resort, The Beach Club has a rustic feel to it and, directly adjacent to the beach, it enjoys refreshing sea breezes. With the usual Thai reclining cushions on raised wooden platforms, it mimics other, more laid-back places in the village and it certainly is cleaner looking but lacks intimacy and charges a lot more than its neighbours. Western and Thai dishes, on-the-beach dining possible.

Opening Hours: 07:00 – 22:30
Location: Noi beachside
Handsome Sandwiches

Handsome Sandwiches

Someone around here has a sense of humour: Handsome Sandwiches also sells gasoline “Make you bike go fast” and does laundry, “Make your clothes smell good for ten years” and has a pretty admirable reputation when it comes to burgers and sandwiches. Fairly priced for this area where everything seems to be more expensive, Handsome also stays open late and is therefore a favourite with the munchies crowd.

Opening Hours: 10:00 – 03:00 later on Full Moon nights
Location: Noi Main Street
Again and Again

Again and Again

Things don’t get more laid back than this. Bamboo and thatch, open-sided and with sand floors, Again and Again is the quintessential backpackers’ restaurant, except that most types of people frequent it. Good Thai food served with a smile – a perfect combination.

Opening Hours: 10:00 – late
Location: Noi Main Street
Rasta Baby

Rasta Baby

Surprisingly, Rasta Baby offers pretty tasty Thai and western food with an extended menu. And just when you thought Reggae bars were only interested in selling herbs this one goes and surprises you with good food, too… What on earth is the world coming to?

Opening Hours: 09:00 – whenever, man
Location: Noi, off the Main Street – it’s well signposted
Indigo Gecko

Indigo Gecko

Just off the Main Street, you can get your coffee fix at Indigo Gecko while watching sports on their TVs. Upstairs and cushion-bedecked, chill out under the ceiling fans or catch the breeze at a balcony seat. They also rent vintage motorbikes.

Opening Hours: 10:00 – late
Location: Just off Noi Main Street

Ao Thong Nai Pan Yai Restaurants

Dolphin

Dolphin

Right on the beach at Thong Nai Pan Yai, Dolphin has bamboo chairs and tables, lounging wooden chairs and is shaded by a tropical almond tree. Great for both lunch and dinner it’s seldom crowded and the service is good. Thai and western food in a great setting.

Nice Beach Bungalows

Nice Beach Bungalows

Nice Beach Bungalows has an attractive restaurant with a concrete floor interior, lacquered wood terrace and bamboo furniture on the beach itself. International and Thai food served.
