Koh Phangan Nightlife
What to Do at Night in Koh Phangan
If you’re planning on coming to Koh Phangan purely for nightlife make sure you stay in Haad Rin, it’s as simple as that. Haad Rin has the largest and most concentrated collection of bars and clubs in the Gulf of Thailand while the rest of the island is a haven of tranquility. Sure, the twice-monthly Half Moon parties in Ban Tai are legendary and well worth the 30-minute taxi ride from Haad Rin, while Thongsala has a few pubs that attract more expatriates than visitors.
Thailand’s ubiquitous Reggae Bars can be found scattered around at Chaloklum and sleepy Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi but apart from that only isolated bars, again at Thong Nai Pan, actually get going for dance sessions. Haad Rin’s Full Moon parties are the island’s worst-kept secret and are the reason why accommodation is fully booked out for days before and after the event.
Enjoy Koh Phangan and enjoy the two extremes of nightlife it offers – dining under the stars on a peaceful beach or dancing the night away to throbbing drum n’ bass, techno and hip-hop.
Haad Rin Beach, not Chaloklum is the place to go on the island if you’re looking for nightlife per se, but if you can settle for a quiet evening out chatting in peaceful surroundings there are a few places to try out in the Haad Mae Haad/Chaloklum area. Read More...
Haad Rin Nok Beach is only about 800 metres long but on Full Moon Party nights more than 12 powerful sound systems crank out tunes and it hosts up to an amazing 30,000 partygoers during special events such as New Year’s Eve. In short, Koh Phangan’s Full Moon parties are the most celebrated and longest-running dance culture events in the world. Read More...
It’s not all about the full moon parties at Haad Rin. The area is what a jaded travel writer would call ‘vibrant’ and is easily the best place in this part of Thailand for an extended evening out, taking in a good meal, bar-hopping and dancing till late. Read More...
Unlike at busy Haad Rin, there’s a marked difference between Haad Yao nightlife during low and high seasons. Tranquility rules during low season and even though the beach is fairly peaceful during high season you will find some parties along the beach until late into the night. Read More...
Sleepy by day and somewhat less so by night, the nightlife in Thong Nai Pan Noi stretches along the village’s main road. Basically, the restaurants introduce more dancing music as the evening progresses. Thong Nai Pan Yai’s nightlife is more beachside – which is not a bad thing, with fire dancing and set nights for most places. Read More...
Thong Sala is not a place where people specifically head to for nightlife yet if you’re staying there you can still have a good evening out. With a couple of British pubs with pool tables, several bars downtown and even a girlie bar strip, the area has enough to keep punters busy and active once the sun goes down. Read More...
