What to Do at Night in Haad Yao & Haad Salad

Unlike at busy Haad Rin, there’s a marked difference between Haad Yao nightlife during low and high seasons. Tranquility rules during low season and even though the beach is fairly peaceful during high season you will find some parties along the beach until late into the night.

Apache Bar up on the main road is a good place for a beer and a chat, as is Bebop, also on the same road, but towards Haad Salad.

Apache

Run by the ever-amiable Mr. Set, Apache is something of a local institution and is popular with local expats. Apache has a bar section and a sit-down, relaxing part with Thai ‘mon’ cushions. Mr. Set is a local ‘character’ and can recount tales of how the island was when he was a boy – a lot different, to say the very least. Definitely worth a visit.

Bebob

In between Haad Salad and Haad Yao – you’ll find live music and a great friendly ambiance in this pint-sized bar. People get together here to jam on various musical instruments (mostly guitar) and the enthusiasm is infectious.

Jack’s Bar

On a lush lawn in a coconut plantation a few steps back from Haad Yao Beach, Jack’s must be the only bar on the island with an ATM machine in it. It must come in handy when buying large rounds, but in reality Jack’s is not that expensive. With a large-screen TV and an attractive fountain, Jack’s also does food.
