Haad Yao & Haad Salad Restaurants & Dining
Where and What to Eat in Haad Yao & Haad Salad
With plenty of restaurants and resorts lining the beach, dining out at Haad Yao and Salad doesn’t involve a lot of walking around looking for the right place. All restaurants face west and all offer beachside dining. To say that all are the same would be stretching things as, thankfully, they’re not.
Out-and-out seafood restaurant Happy Elephant graces the north of the beach while bar-cum-restaurant Chock Dee is in the centre of Haad Yao and you’ll find quite a number of nooks and crannies sheltered in among the palms and casuarinas that line the beach, as you will at Salad.
Haad Yao Restaurants
Happy Elephant
Part of Haad Yao View Resort, Happy Elephant deals in seafood. Reached by a wooden walkway over granite rocks at the north end of the beach, this atmospheric place is ideally located to appreciate all things marine, whether views, food or atmosphere. Of course, being a resort restaurant prices will be higher than its neighbours.

Chok Dee
One thing you’re guaranteed at Chock Dee (meaning ‘good luck’) is a wonderful sunset view. Happily, there’s a lot more going for it. Lively music, beach and terrace dining, fresh food and a lovely beach ambiance with an intimate interior are some of Chock Dee’s extra plus points.
Opening Hours: 11:00 – lateLocation: Central Haad Yao Beach

Long Bay
Fairly typical of a Haad Yao restaurant setup, Long Bay has a mix of plastic chairs and bamboo tables with several raised platforms on which to sprawl. Mainly seafood with some healthy options, Long Beach has quite a varied menu of both Thai and international dishes and a good drinks list with a central bar to help that party along. Like its neighbours, Long Beach enjoys great sunsets.
Opening Hours: 10:00 – lateLocation: Central Haad Yao Beach
Cuisine: Thai & International
Haad Yao Restaurant
A dive resort, Haad Yao Bungalows’ restaurant is right on the beach and is a pretty big affair with lots of bamboo and plastic seating and tables. It gets quite busy during high season but during low season you’ll have the place if not exactly to yourself then extremely peaceful. The international menu results in some imaginative twists on the chef’s part but you can’t go wrong in ordering Thai here.
Opening Hours: 07:00 – lateLocation: Haad Yao Beach

Haad Salad Restaurants
My Way
A Bamboo-and-thatch restaurant right by the waves at Haad Salad, My Way is an attractive restaurant with a wooden terrace, adjacent bar and a good, healthy menu to choose from. On either side are laid-back beach massage setups and the western-facing view is to die for. Featuring whole-meal German bread and other health options, lunching or dining here is a pleasant experience.
